Found this little gem today, in which Jean-Luc Godard lists his top 10 films each year from 1956-1965. What is most alarming is the quality of each film - any of which could have been a number one pick. I don't think it's a case of hindsight being 20/20, or a curmudgeonly "they don't make 'em like they used to" attitude - the sheer volume of fantastic film is astounding compared to today.

Wow.... What a list! I was taken aback by just how many great films came from this 10 year span. Of the 100 listed, I've seen 46 and found maybe 10 or 12 that I wasn't familiar with at all. The hunt begins. It's odd, but a list not unlike this one was a prime motivator in the early days of the Film Buff. It struck me as odd that there didn't seem to be a place where you could go and consistently find great classics like these, and we set out to be that place. We've got a little sidetracked over the years but all in all we've got a fair few of the ones that have been released. I guess that's worth something even if all we seem to rent is High School Musical III Redux.
