here's how i rank em'

4. Power of Love
one of my favourite News tracks but as far as music videos go, this one's a dud. It's a shamful ad for back to the future and although it's cool that Doc Brown is actually there he never interacts with the Huey and the gang ever. The jacket reference is especially cringe worthy

3.I Want a New Drug
Classic News, this track has some of the best lyrics Lewis has ever written in my opinion. Clever song about the highs of love compared to those of drugs. As for the video well it looks like it's drenched in cocaine and not much goes on. the opening shot is great and is jolting. Great pick for an intro joe!

2.Heart of Rock n' Roll
Great little video by the news here. It's absurd and goes great with the lyrics. Their take on punk rock in new york and hair metal in L.A. is fantastic. The ending shot is something out of a Lynch film. Truly terrifying, so i guess Huey is the heart of rock. whoa.

1.Heart and Soul
Truly an underrated masterpiece of the genre. Huey Lewis and News got across the message of the lyrics while still conveying a completely different message about inner city night life. They do this by presenting the viewer with several surreal images that blended together evoke a feeling of anxiousness. Truly epic music video making.

i would switch i want a new drug and heart of rock and roll, but i agree with the others. and yes, the last shot in heart of rock and roll is disturbing in the best possible way. i love the halloween setting of heart and soul.

Not in my wildest dreams could I ever have imagined two young hipsters debating the merits of Huey Lewis and the News videos 25 years on. I would have definitely lost that bet. What's next... an episodic deconstruction of Joanie Loves Chachie and Charles in Charge? What about Webster verses Dif'rent Strokes, you know a redux of shows starring little Negros?

Once again, you two amateurs have called down the thunder... watch for my next post. It will have to be seen to be believed.
